The Constitution of the Permaculture Society of India (PSI) is subject to the Societies Registration Act 1860, duly recognised by the Government of India as a non-profit charitable society (NGO).
The Articles of Association include the following key elements:
- To preserve, maintain and propogate the Permaculture principles, ethics & methodologies as prescribed by the Permaculture “co-founders” Bill Mollison & David Holmgren, and other eminent Permaculture experts and advocates;
- To promote the value systems and training methodologies under the honorable aegis of the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia and other similar peak organisations around the world;
- To establish, operate and maintain the Permaculture Institute of India in order to impart education, training and capacity building to individuals and organisations;
To provide a central forum for like-minded individuals and organisations to share information, techniques and methodologies for sustainable lifestyle practices; - To operate a good and services exchange service that links “GREEN” primary producers, farmers and manufacturers with end-users and buyers;
- To develop strong links with various governmental agencies to mobilise “GREEN” projects of national, state and regional significance throughout South Asia;
- To engage in global networking with other “GREEN” organisations with a view to developing collaborative activities and the sharing of knowledge; and
- To encourage travellers to visit South Asia and participate in PSI administered WWOOF India programs.
The Society is managed by a Governing Board duly elected by the PSI members. The Board is responsible for developing the Society activities and programs, operating policies and management of the organisation.
The financial integrity of the Society is administered under the aegis of the Permaculture Trust of India which is established under the laws and guidelines prescribed by the Indian Trusts Act (1882).
